FUNCTION OF L'AGENCE

L'Agence is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating health and social services for the Outaouais region. To do so, it must involve not only health and social services institutions, community organizations, and citizens, but also other regional organizations, such as municipalities, MRCs, ministries, governmental organizations, school boards, and socio-economic groups.

L'Agence specific responsibilities with respect to institutions, community organizations, and the population are to:

  • Evaluate the general health and well-being of the population
  • Determine the health and social services priorities according to the needs of the population and provincial health ministry’s objectives
  • Allocate funds to institutions, community organizations, and accredited private resources
  • Ensure that services and care are well-integrated within its territory
  • Facilitate access to services and continuity of care
  • Initiate, guide, and take part in prevention and promotion strategies
  • Foster public participation in health and social services network management
  • Assess and report on the impact of various initiatives on the health and well-being of the population

L'Agence: Board of Directors

Role and responsibilities

The board of directors manages L'Agence affairs and has full authority. The board of director's main functions are to:

  • Identify regional priorities based on the needs of the population
  • Equitably distribute the human, physical and financial resources at its disposal
  • Appoint senior managers and the regional service quality commissioner
  • Adopt the regulations needed to conduct L'Agence affairs and fulfill its responsibilities

The Act respecting the local health and social services network development agencies, passed and ratified in December 2003, redefined the board of directors' composition. In January 2004, the Minister appointed fourteen members. To view the membership of the Board of Directors go to: www.rrsss07.gouv.qc.ca.

The board of directors has four committees with the mandate to examine specific issues and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
